On the 46th anniversary of his assassination, I know Dr. King is looking down on all of us and shaking his head! I bet he is saying continue killing, robbing, stealing, and doing all of these evil things to one another after all that freedom fighting he and his comrades (male and female) did for us! I would personally like to apologize to Dr. Martin Luther King, and all those who fought for civil rights for all people, for all of the disrespectful things we as people are doing in this world today!!

“Same Love” on the Grammy’s 2014

Wow. I rarely watch the Grammy’s but that performace by Mackelmore’s “Same Love” was AMAZING. I’m in tears. Even more amazing were the two African American SGL couples who were married and I know two of them personally. Congratulations to Quincy LeNear and Deondray Gossett. I’m honored to know these talented filmmakers (Creators of “The DL Chronicles”) and they were amongst other couples making history on TV at the Grammy’s. Much love to them and all couples married on the show!

A Great Day for the LGBT Community

Today the Supreme Court made history, in a 5-4 decision in both cases, by striking down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and upholding the Appeals Courts decision that Prop. 8 is unconstitutional.

It’ll be a matter of months before California will be the 13th state in the union to allow same sex marriage.

LOVE IS LOVE! EQUALITY FOR ALL!!!!

Edna and Peaches in JET in 1970?

Yes it’s true. Thanks to the website “The Root” they have unearthed a photo of JET Magazine recognizing their wedding back in 1970. Can you believe it? WOW. You can read more about it here!

I would love to know if they are still alive and if so, are they still together. I’m sure they have some stories!

The end of "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell"

As of 12:01am on Tuesday, the discriminatory law, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was repealed and now openly gay men and women can now serve our country without hiding! Many thanks to President Obama and the congressmen and congresswomen who made it possible to repeal this law.

OUTSERVE, has a great issue out now that celebrates this historic change in military policy. Covering the issue is Two Time Iraq war veteran Anthony Woods who unsuccessfully ran for Congress in the 10th District in California. The current OUTSERVE magazine highlights over a 100 once faceless military personnel who were either discharged or currently serving the military.

New York passes "Marriage Equality Act"

New York becomes the 6th state in the union to allow same sex marriage. I expect California will be next by the end of the year and Maryland in 2012.

I used to live in NYC from 1999 – 2001 and I truly regret that I left it. I truly felt at home during my time there. Atlanta, and the South, in general has truly been a disappointment. I truly believe the whole region has regressed. And this decision gives me even more reason to move back to where discrimination is not legalized!
